Seasonal Variations in Hydrological Influences on Gravity Measurements Using gPhones
Description:
Previous studies have shown that gravity observations present obvious annual or seasonal variations which are likely due to the changes of continental water storage. In this paper researchers modeled three tides (earth solid tide, ocean tide and pole tide), and corrected for atmospheric loading effects using local measurements. They show that the gravity series measured by gPhones contains the contribution from the hydrologic changes at seasonal timescales. [Source: Terrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences]
