Description: |
According to the latest data sea surface temperature in the Northeast Shelf Large Marine Ecosystem was noted to be record-high in 2012. It emerged that the temperatures were the highest in past 150 years. The data was part of a pattern of elevated temperatures that has been observed the Northwest Atlantic. The changing trends in the temperature are putting great impact on distributions of fish and shellfish off the U. S. Northeast and Canada continental shelf. A northeastward or up-shelf shift was seen in four of the southern species. [Source: French Tribune]
