Africa sneezed, and the tropical Atlantic is choking. An intense, sprawling dust storm exited the African west coast earlier this week. Over the Atlantic ocean, the storm has formed a highly concentrated layer of atmospheric dust, known as the SAL (Saharan Air Layer).
