COSEE Ocean Systems: News
NASA Set for a Big Year in Earth Science
Description: In 2014, for the first time in more than a decade, five NASA Earth science missions will be launched into space in the same year. The Global Precipitation Measurement Core Observatory will measure precipitation. The Orbiting Carbon Observatory will make precise, global measurements of carbon dioxide. NASA's Soil Moisture Active Passive mission will track Earth's water into one of its last hiding places: the soil. Two other Earth science missions will be sent to the International Space Station this year to measure ocean winds, and clouds and aerosols. [Source: NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory]
