Evaluation of the sinks and sources of atmospheric CO2 by artificial upwelling
Description: Here researchers simulate artificial upwelling induced carbon transformation to evaluate its sinks or sources characteristics to atmospheric CO2. They examine the effect based on numerical model and modified Redfield ratio using observed carbon and nutrient data from 14 selected stations. Regional changes in sea-air differences of CO2 fugacity and the carbon sequestration potential are significantly affected. Large variations of carbon sequestration ability were associated with different regions, seasons and technical parameters of the artificial upwelling device.
