Rare Nautilus Spotted in South Pacific
Description: Recently during a visit to Papua New Guinea in the South Pacific, University of Washington biologist Peter Ward got to see one of the rarest species of nautilus. Researchers have been in search of rare animal Allonautilus scrobiculatus, a species of nautilus, since long for its rarity. Nautiluses are often called 'living fossils' because they are well known for their unique shells. They used to exist more than 500 million years ago, which means even before the dinosaurs' era.
