How have changing ENSO forecasts impacted Atlantic seasonal hurricane forecasts for 2017?
Description: ENSO has been known to be one of the primary drivers of seasonal Atlantic hurricane activity since 1984. El Niño can create conditions that are unfavorable for Atlantic hurricanes. When the atmosphere over the tropical Pacific responds to El Niño's warmer-than-average surface waters, the Walker Circulation weakens and shifts eastward. [Source: NOAA Climate.gov]
