Ozone Layer May Be Thinning Over Earth's Heavily Populated Areas
Description: In a new scientific analysis, scientists detected a drop in the amount of ozone in recent years at lower levels of the stratosphere over the Earth's nonpolar regions, where most of the population lives. Moreover, the decline is larger than the rise measured at higher altitudes over Antarctica. These scientists calculate the total amount of ozone in the entire stratosphere hasn't improved since the 1990s. [Source: Wall Street Journal]
