Description: |
This study used data from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) on NASA's Aqua satellite to look at the effect of temperature on water vapor. AIRS gives us the temperature and water vapor profiles that show us how much warming and moistening we get as surface temperature goes up. The AIRS data very clearly show a lot of moistening as the temperature of the ocean increases. It's so dramatic that we can actually see less infrared radiation going into space in the AIRS data.
