Feldman gained noteriety when he wrote his first paper about the living experiment that is the Galapagos archipelago. The marine life there is influenced by the deep "equatorial undercurrent." It flows from the middle Pacific and slams into the islands, pushing up cool water and nutrients from the depths and into the shallower waters. Feldman has been invited to the Galapagos Science Symposium to review what has been learned about the Galapagos Islands in the last five decades of research. [Source: NASA Earth Observatory]
