In this study, the responses of an SNREI earth model to internal dislocations are summarized and reformulated based on the previous work by the authors. Results show that the 2004 Sumatra-Andaman earthquake generated considerable co-seismic deformations over the entire earth surface. As far as 6000 km from the epicentre, greater than 1-mm co-seismic horizontal displacements occurred during the earthquake. [Source: Geophysical Journal International]
