A Quiet Day
Description: It's quiet now, but September often produces some powerful hurricanes. Some of the most devastating hurricanes originate around Cape Verde. They start as out as tropical waves, curvy lines of wind and rain that are the earliest iteration of a hurricane. If the water temperature is warm enough and the atmospheric pressure is low enough, the natural turn of the earth, known as the Coriolis Effect, often draws a tropical wave into a full circle in the first rotations that are essential for a hurricane.
