The European Space Agency's (ESA) next Earth Explorer, Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) mission, has just passed the all-important Flight Acceptance Review. SMOS will make global observations of soil moisture over Earth's landmasses and salinity over the oceans.
