Arctic Lake Sediments Show Warming, Unique Ecological Changes In Recent Decades
Description: The 20th century is the only period in the past 200 millennia in which aquatic indicators reflect increased warming, despite the changes in the tilt of the Earth's axis which, under natural conditions leads to climatic cooling. An analysis of sediment cores indicates that changes occurring at an Arctic lake are unprecedented and likely are caused by humans. [Source: ScienceDaily]
