Meet Our Educator-Scientist Concept Mapping Workshop Participants - 09.10.2009

UNH faculty collaborate on a concept map
On March 13, 2009, 12 informal educators and 5 ocean and climate scientists from the University of New Hampshire met at the New England Center to improve their collective understanding of Earth's major ocean - climate systems. COSEE-OS staff facilitated interactions between these internationally known scientists and educators to infuse cutting-edge research topics into educational products such as concept maps that hyperlink to scientist-vetted images, video, news items, and educational resources. Topics focused on the current research interests of the participating scientists and included examining evidence for climate change, predicting the impact of climate change in the ocean, modeling the ocean-climate system, evaluating how landscape affects the ecology of coastal waters, and portraying how phytoplankton impact humans.
