Climate Change, Carbon Cycle, and the Role of Iron - 12.02.2010

Solar radiation management options
In our 8th ROLE Model webinar, Dr. Fei Chai (University of Maine) provided an overview of the two main areas of research in the field of climate intervention technologies, including those that either reduce the amount of solar radiation reaching the earth or attempt to remove excess CO2 from the atmosphere. His presentation focused on the science behind iron fertilization experiments and the ocean's role in affecting climate.

Jenny Albright (Tabor Academy) talked about her decision to use concept mapping in her classroom as an educational tool to introduce the complex topics of global warming and climate change to her students. She proposed that concept mapping would visually simplify the complex issues in a manner that would enable a high school student to understand them more intuitively than with traditional methods alone.
