In the third webinar of our three-part series on turbulence, Dr. Peter Jumars (University of Maine) discussed some of the ocean's tiniest inhabitants, and how turbulence and fluid dynamics affect their chances for survival. In a presentation designed for science, math and physics educators, Dr. Jumars used an interactive concept map to guide us through life for organisms that feed by absorption.

Dr. Peter Jumars received his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Scripps Institution of Oceanography in 1974. He strives to identify quantitative physical, chemical and geological constraints that can be measured or calculated in order to bound the rates of processes in which marine organisms participate.
