WHAT I DO
I study how physical processes in the ocean affect growth, distribution patterns and composition of phytoplankton. My research integrates concepts and methods from various fields including fluid dynamics, functional morphology, chemical ecology and optics to better understand the ecology of phytoplankton. In addition to research, I am involved in COSEE-OS, with the goal of developing a stimulating learning environment that will promote science education, in general, and ocean science education in particular.
