Work Space Buttons Overview

Below, the buttons above the work space are described from left to right. At right, roll over each button in the image for example views.

Go to Main Menu: Clicking on the Go To MAIN MENU button takes you to the main menu. You will be to prompted to save any changes (SAVE MAP), cancel any changes and return to the workspace (CANCEL), or Continue to leave the workspace and return to the main menu without saving any changes.

Save Map: Clicking on the SAVE MAP button gives you the option to save your work as a new concept map, or, if you are modifying an existing map, overwrite that map without returning to the main menu.

Help: Provides helpful tips.

Undo: Removes last step. Can be repeated to remove multiple steps.

Magnify: Increases the size of the overall concept map.

Reduce: Decreases the size of the overall concept map.

Size Textbox: Displays the current size of the map (this is not a field that you can type in). Size is a percentage of the original size and set by the magnify and reduce buttons.

Move All: Click on the hand to turn it red. When the hand is red, you can move the entire concept map as a whole. Click on the hand again (turns it black & white) to move individual objects.

Add Concept: Opens the concept editor which is used for adding or changing concepts.

Add Connecting Line: Opens the line editor which is used for adding or changing lines.

Add Connecting Fork: Opens the fork editor which is used for adding or changing forks.

Add Connecting Phrase: Opens the phrase editor which is used for adding or changing text that can be attached to lines or forks (i.e., connecting phrases).

Show Handles: Turns on handles, which are used to manipulate lines and forks.

Hide Handles: Turns off handles.

Show Background Grid: Turns on the grid pattern on the workspace.

Hide Background Grid: Turns off the grid pattern.

Print Concept Map: Opens a frame for map placement and printing.

Export As Image: A tool for exporting your concept map as a jpg image. Pop-ups must be enabled on your computer for this tool to work.

OCI Preview: Check the size and placement of your map to ensure it fits within the optimal viewing area of the OCI.
