Carrie Armbrecht is a graduate student in the School of Marine Sciences at the University of Maine. She is working towards
dual masters in Oceanography and Marine Policy (with a focus in education and outreach). She has a B.A. in Psychology from
Wellesley College. Her integrated thesis work with Dr. Fei Chai and Annette deCharon examines climate change in the Arabian
Sea region. She is looking at atmospheric and oceanic processes; social responses; and communication and education techniques
related to climate change.
Carrie has taken part in several COSEE-OS workshops, including the June 2009
Informal Educator-Scientist Collaborative Workshop at
the Seacoast Science Center and Teaching Science by Ocean Inquiry,
a summer workshop held at the Darling Marine Center. In March 2010, she participated in the COSEE-China planning workshop.
Carrie now presents COSEE-based material at meetings, workshops, and conferences, which makes her a great collaborator for COSEE-OS as she pursues her
M.S. degrees.
