Postdoc Webinar Series As part of its ongoing efforts to provide resources and advice for students at various points on their career pathways, the Institute for Broadening Participation (IBP) and COSEE-OS have hosted three webinars targeting graduate and postdoctoral students interested in obtaining and being successful in a postdoc position. IBP Director Dr. Ashanti Johnson and IBP staff Chris Cash and Liv Detrick, present advice and tips for students looking to apply and secure postdoc positions. Each webinar also features short presentations and feedback from 1-3 guest panelists who hold relevant positions or have recently undergone similar processes and experiences. Both webinars use a concept map as a guide and to house a collection of helpful resources. The latest version of the map (updated with resources from all of the webinars) is below. Webinar 3: Making the Most of Your Postdoctoral Position
Date: February 5, 2014- 7:00 PM ETFeatured presenters: Liv Detrick (IBP), Dr. Tiffany A. Katz (University of Pittsburg) and Dr. Ansley Abraham (Southern Regional Education Board). Sometimes, getting a postdoctoral position can feel like the hardest part - but what happens once the position begins? Balancing work, life, and career and educational goals can be challenging if you do not know where to go for help. The focus of this presentation is on how to make the most out of your experience, and how to prevent and address problems before they arise. The guest presenters add their personal experiences to the advice and resources offered. |
